↗Friendship · Integrity · Service
Freemasonry brings men together, helps them grow and gives them opportunities to make a lasting difference in the places they call home.

Local lodges.
Shared purpose.
We are the Northern Area of the Provincial Grand Lodge of East Lancashire — a network of local Freemasons united by friendship, personal development and service.
Our lodges welcome men from every walk of life. Through timeless traditions and shared experiences, members build confidence, form lasting friendships and contribute to causes that matter locally.

A living Northern tradition
Freemasonry has been active in the Northern Area since at least 1760. Royal Lancashire Lodge No. 116 in Colne can trace its story still further, probably to around 1670, placing it among the oldest Lodges in the world and almost certainly the oldest in the English Constitution.
The reasons men found value in Freemasonry then remain powerful today: lasting friendship, personal improvement and service to others. In a fast-moving and often isolating world, those things are not less important — they may matter more than ever.

Northern Area Freemasons support local charities and community organisations through fundraising, volunteering and practical help. That can mean marshalling at local charity events, collecting Christmas trees each January to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice, organising fundraisers or simply offering experience and a helping hand. Members give what they can — time, skills or support — to make a real difference close to home.

No. It is neither a religion nor a political organisation. Members come from many backgrounds and respect one another's beliefs.
Most lodges meet several times during the year, with optional social, learning and community activities alongside those meetings.
